Practice Development Award

GUIDELINES FOR SCOTTISH STROKE AHP FORUM

PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT AWARDS

The SSAHPF accepts applications for funding for Scottish AHP Core members to attend and/or organise meetings, courses, training days and conferences, or to undertake study visits to recognised centres of excellence.

Who can apply?

Applicants must be living and working in Scotland and be a core member of the SSAHPF.  Please note, the practice development award is not available to our associate members.

Applicants must approach their employer/centre of education for funding before approaching the SSAHPF, and any pledged funding noted on application.  If employer funding is not available, please state reason.  Joint applications (i.e. more than one person or more than one study event listed on the application form) will not be accepted.

Applications will be considered only on the relevant application form.  Applications will be reviewed by 2 members of the SSAHPF PDA committee, and the event/activity applied for will be rated on a scale of 1-5 using the following criteria:

  1. Directly relates to stroke care
  2. Demonstrates a clear benefit to improving rehabilitation for those affected by stroke.
  3. Will have a positive impact on service development/research development/stroke rehabilitation content.
  4. Is linked to current evidence base/research priorities/stroke guidelines/Progressive Stroke Pathway.
  5. Application is completed in full with clear and succinct explanation as to how the funding will impact on quality of stroke rehabilitation.

What is the funding for?

It is a stipulation of funding that a short report be submitted to the SSAHPF immediately after returning from travel, or on completion of study. If application is successful, monies will be refunded on submission of receipts. Further details regarding plans for sharing learning post-attendance/completion of activity are also requested in the application form.

Please note the maximum amount of money that can be awarded as a SSAHPF Practice Development Award is £300.  NB. It is likely that we will only be able to award one amount of £300 in each application cycle.
